Spring in the hills, Beloved!
On the side of a meadowed slope!
And love in our hearts, Beloved,
Love and Spring and Hope!

I scanned page 14 of Two in Arcadia, 1907 Brentanos, by Lucine Finch and redesigned each of the 6 color separations to facilitate printing and clarify the image. Using laserprints of each I coated blocks of unmounted linoleum [McClain's Printmaking Supplies] cut to size, with 10% mat gel medium / water and placed image face down. After drying thoroughly, I rubbed off the paper layer to preserve the carbon image. I cut each block and printed, one color per day until completed.

Spring for me is a bursting forth of color and energy, but the dull greens of the original lack any dynamic impact. I substituted purple Delphiniums from my former Houston Heights garden for the vaguely hollyhock forms of the original, and brought into the sky the yellow orb of an early morning sun that seemed otherwise too vacant.
