Production: I scanned page 1 of Two in Arcadia, 1907 Brentanos, by Lucine Finch and redesigned each of the 5 color separations to facilitate printing and clarify the image. Using laserprints of each I coated blocks of unmounted linoleum [McClain's Printmaking Supplies] cut to size, with 10% mat gel medium / water and placed image face down. After drying thoroughly, I rubbed off the paper layer to preserve the carbon image. I cut each block and printed, one color per day until completed.

I changed the overall color from an almost insipid muddy gray-green to a deep and oceanic blue, and introduced a lighter tint of the blue to evoke a turbulent, foamy surf. I made the sky blue, not green, and changed the birds from poorly rendered goose-like forms to darker and cleaner white-faced ibis (Plegadis chihi) more characteristic of the evening skies above my new home in San Miguel de Allende, GTO, Mexico.
