Coolidge is perhaps my favorite street artist in Houston. Subjects are whimsical animals placed very naturalistically with their feet firmly planted on the ground. The process seems to involve a base coat followed by several colors, each well registered with respect to the others. The cuttings of the stencils are always very precise, and the integration of the blocks thoughtfully integrated. Coolidge must be very much in control when placing the pieces, so the nom de plume is very apt indeed. The attribution, "Coolidge," always accompanies the work (though subsequent street art may obscure the text). Coolidge art and many public responses can be found on Swamplot and The Houston Press.
